Marie, a sweet and lively single mother, receives a Christmas Day surprise when she inherits an estate as a descendant of an old White Russian family, becoming the new owner and manager of a faltering tourist park near Saint Petersburg. Struggling to save the park and support its workers, she encounters resistance from Vania, who has run the failing park for years and fears that Marie's efforts might exacerbate the situation.
